What Do You Need to Look for When Moving to Austin?

April 15th, 2012

My experiences online had taught me what to look for when making a purchase of anything from sofas to a budget minded move. It all rests on the same principles. Those principle have to do with being able to recognize the effects that a high level of competition will have on the prices of the item(s) that you want to buy. You see, as a consumer, in a competitive market, you have the power. That’s because you can always go and look for a lower price somewhere else.

This is especially true when it comes to shopping online. When I needed to find an economical furniture storage unit, I understood that if I didn’t see what I wanted right away, the next company was just a mouse click away. The storage companies knew this too and had their best prices posted for immediate viewing. There were no  “cat and mouse” games or sales pressure, here. They knew that the moment a customer begins to feel pressured, they’re gone and that’s it! So they knew that they needed to get to the point – and fast. Hence, the low prices.

So, that brings me to the question of what to look for when moving to Austin. Well, the first thing that you want to check out is the company’s level of experience when packing and relocating their customers. The longer a company has successfully been in business, the better the indication that they have been giving good service. This really holds true in the age of online advertising and communication. Too many negative review online and a company can go under. It’s really easy to post a review of one’s experiences with a company, too. That type of “word of mouth” is lightning fast.

The next thing that you will want to consider is how responsive the moving company is to your packing requests. If the moving company seems to not care about your concerns over certain delicate items, then chance are that they really don’t care. Go with your gut feeling when it comes to these things and don’t just go with the lowest prices. You may end up paying for it in the end. You can tell a lot about a company from a simple conversation. Have a talk with the person in charge and see what you get out of that communication.

Discovering Elgin During My Move

March 31st, 2012

I was amazed and delighted when I discovered where my next business move would be. Have you ever considered owning a home in Elgin, TX? Interestingly enough, Elgin is considered both the sausage capital of Texas and the Southwest brick capital. This was precisely the reason that I was headed there. You see, I was originally from the Austin, TX area, but I ended up moving to a different part of the country (namely the Northeast). As luck would have it, I found myself working in a company that produces high quality bricks.

Eventually, my company was bought out by a firm in Elgin, but my stellar work record made them decide to keep me on, if I was willing to relocate (which I originally had doubts about). But when they told me that I could pack up my things and move to Elgin, itself, I was elated. I had lived in Texas for many years and I was homesick for the Lone Star State. Don’t get me wrong, I was relatively content with living in New York – but it just wasn’t the same. Now I had a chance to move back home.

One of the first things that I knew that I had to do was to locate the discount trucking services that would meet my needs and specifications. I felt that this wasn’t going to be a difficult thing to do, since I was pretty versed in finding things online. I actuality, this was how I found out a lot about my new home destination in Elgin. There were a lo of facts about the city that I was not aware of and looking up specifics about the city made my move an exciting adventure that I couldn’t wait to embark upon.

After narrowing down a decent list of packing and relocation experts, I started sorting then out by price and reputation. A lot of folks don’t take the time in order to check out a company’s reputation. But that can be a serious mistake. I’m always careful when it comes to taking a look at what former customers have to say – especially when it comes to something like a moving company.Pretty soon, though, I had a good idea of which company I wanted to use. So, I set up an appointment to ask them some questions, which they answered to my satisfaction. I was soon on my way.

Deer Hunting in Lakeway

March 15th, 2012

I have always been passionate about deer hunting. This is because my father used to take m with him on deer hunting adventures when I was younger and it was a time that we were the closest and had a chance to really talk with one another. Eventually I had to move out of town when I grew up and needed to attend the good university that I was accepted to and then later in pursuit of good job opportunities. When my dad passed away, I felt bad that I wasn’t there and I still deeply miss the hunting trip that we went on together.

So when a business opportunity popped up near Lakeway, I immediately applied for it and did everything that I could in order to secure that position! As it turns out, I got the job! Now it was time to look around for a companies that specialized in moving van trucks, so I could make a decision as to who to use for my relocation. I knew that this was not going to be a major affair, since I have already been through this before (with my last move).

The long distance moving companies that advertise online were just the thing that I needed to look up – so I started at that point of entry on the Internet.  I spent a good deal of time doing my research at that juncture and I eventually had a pretty good list so-called trucking and storage companies. This was the perfect starting point and I had a list that allowed me to go through all the potential companies that impressed my wife and the rest of the members in my family, since I was done in a couple of days!

Next up, was the research that involved checking up on those companies in order to see what previous customers had to say about each one of those companies. Previous storage and relocation customers make the best points of reference when you want to know how good a moving company is. They pull absolutely no punches and give it to you like it is.This is where you find out if a company has any overt flaws that you need to know about. So, this is how I made my final decision and selected a company that proved to be perfect for my moving needs.

Setting Up Business in Austin

February 29th, 2012

Never in a million years did I think that I would find myself back in my childhood home of Austin, TX. But life can be quite ironic, at times. Consider this. I have been working with the same company (in Colorado) for nearly ten years. While doing this, my wife and I has a side business that slowly became profitable. The owner of the company that I was working with wanted to invest in my private enterprise and it made a lot of sense. But here’s the strange part – he wanted to move me and my family to Austin, TX to set up shop!

The weird part is that the owner had no clue as to where I grew up! Now, I had the opportunity to actually run a business in my old home town. I was really looking forward to seeing my extended family and old friends when I got there. You see, I never really had the opportunity to visit my old stomping ground once I had moved away. Now all of that has changed. But getting on to the business at hand, I needed to find some reliable packers and moving van companies.

I began by looking up Austin moving labor professionals online. I wanted to use Austin movers, since they knew the area better and my investor agreed to pay for this.  But that didn’t mean that I wanted just any movers to relocate my family and business supplies to Austin. I wanted the best, while getting a good deal on the move. As far as I’m concerned, there’s really only one practical way to do this. You sit down in front of your PC and you start asking for moving quotes from the companies that you pull up with the help of a search engine.

There are a lot of Texas companies to choose from, but I needed to be a bit more specific. As it turns out, I wanted to hire a company that specialized in Sunset Valley neighborhood relocation. It was through the use of the Internet that I was able to target my goal so effectively. In no time, I had a few movers to choose from, based on price. I then narrowed the field based on price as well as customer feedback. This was how I made my final selection.

Setting Up Shop in The Hills

February 15th, 2012

It pretty much came down to my ability to quickly secure the companies that I needed in order to set up and store office furniture in my new company location in the Hills TX. I had already done everything that I needed to do when it came to making arrangements for my family’s move to Lago Vista and now it was time to  focus on the real reason that I was moving in the first place. That had to do with the new office opening that had presented me with the opportunity to be promoted to a Senior Manager.

Once the family was already situated in Lago Vista, I could focus my attention on the new office that my company was in the process of opening. A lot was riding on this assignment, since it’s what led to my new position in the company. Everything had to go as smoothly as possible and I was determined that it would. I had some previous experience with office start ups and I understood that role that the movers played in getting everything done on time – which is critical for things to get rolling right away.

So, it was time to  take a look at my furniture storage and moving options and see what the prognosis was. You see, here was the issue. I had a pretty big office in my previous location. But it was a completely different matter when it came to this new office. But that was okay, since things need to start from the bottom and build their way to the top. And that’s exactly what I intended to do. But in any case, I needed to put some of my own personal office furniture in storage and have the rest moved.

Fortunately, I’m no novice when it comes to locating the professional relocation services that are not only inexpensive, but also understand how important deadline are as well as the fragility of electronic equipment. Whether you’re moving a piano or a computer system, everything needs to be perfect. That’s why I made sure to check out the online mover’s reviews before I made any kind of a decision. Careful planning along with the right tools (the Internet) will make all the difference when it comes to success in business. By the way, the move turned out just the way that I wanted it to!

Setting Up Residence in Lago Vista

February 1st, 2012

My entire family was excited when we had the opportunity to move to scenic Lago Vista which is the perfect place for those who want to be near Austin Texas, yet want to have the benefits of enjoying a smaller community. This came about as part of a new promotion for my job that wanted to extend its services to another part of Texas. When this came up in a meeting, I was the first to volunteer to mover to that area. There was a good reason for this. You see, my wife is from that area and so is most of her family.

But I knew that there was going to be a lot more to this move than just getting in the car and driving there. The community of Lago Vista may be a relatively small town, but moving there was going to be a big chore! The first part of this chore was going to involve packing up our personal items and then contacting a reputable moving company for the rest of the moving details. So, as always, I got on my PC and started looking for the things that I needed by way of packing supplies in Austin.

First of all, I contacted a really good moving supply company that I had used in the past. These were the same folks who taught me how to pack my personal items a few years ago. They gave excellent service then and they would most likely give excellent service now. I was right about that, of course. I even got free shipping on the boxes that I needed. That was the time that I now needed to locate a good Austin moving company. So, I pretty much went the same route and did all of my research on the Internet.

I looked up the best way to find reputable movers in Austin in order to get the information that I required. The Internet supplied me with all the tools to do this. After I found the perfect movers, I negotiated the moving price and set up a good time and date for the move. Once all of this was done, we got ourselves ready and everything went as scheduled. The move was perfect and now we are very happy in our new home. Setting up residence here was the best thing that we could have done. My wife’s family was thrilled to see us!

New Opportunities in Austin

January 22nd, 2012

When my family wanted to be close to the rest of our other relatives, I knew it was time to pack our belongings and make that big move. We had been living on the East Coast where I had been doing most of my work, as a writer, on the Internet. After a couple of years of trying to adapt to our new environment, it became rather clear that we were homesick for Texas. At first, I tried not to notice this, but it became more apparent as time went on. Finally, I realized that I could work online anywhere, so maybe moving back to Texas was not such a bad idea after all.

It was around the time that we had decided to move, that my wife told me that her father has been able to secure her a great job with the city government! This only added to our resolve to move, in order to take advantage of this new opportunity. Now came the logistics of the move and my wife and I were prepared for this. You see, we had learned a lot from out previous move and we were determined to not make any of the same mistakes that we made the last time. This time we were going to carefully select the best Round Rock TX relocation specialists.

The very first thing that we accomplished was packing up some of our more precious valuables using some high quality moving supplies that were purchased online at a website that offered cheap prices ans free shipping. Once those supplies arrived, we carefully packed what we needed to while following suggestions that we saw online, as well. By doing this, we guaranteed that everything would make it there in one piece.

Finding the best cheap reputable movers in our area was also an easy thing to do. We just went through the process of asking for quotes and separating out the better quotes in order for us to continue our research. After determining the best company based on its price, as well as it’s ratings with past customers, we took the time to sit down and ask a few informed questions of our own. This gave us an indication of the company that we wanted to move us. Because we took all these steps, everything went perfectly.

An Austin Moving Experience

December 30th, 2011

I’ve traveled pretty much all over the world. Each time I set my sights on a new location, I get that feeling of excitement that comes with facing the unknown. You know, it’s strange, but I always have these preconceived notions of the place where I’m going to end up next. But when I get there, the place is nothing like anything that I imagined. This is part of the excitement. It’s the fact that once the moving trucks have arrived, it’s all going to be a new adventure from that point on.

But, fortunately, that’s the thing that I like best about moving. This time, however, things promise to be a little different. That’s because the next stop on my tour of the world will be one that I have dreamed about for a few years now. This time, we’re headed towards my wife’s hometown, which meant that we were moving to  West Lake Hills. This would be a completely different king of experience for me, since I had never met most of my wife’s family. And this time, I would be meeting people that my wife is close to – in their own town!

Now, you would think that this would be a stressful event (and you’d be right). But add to the scenario the fact that I needed to locate a professional and efficient group of movers to get us going and I’m sure you can see the stress level we’re talking about. Trust me, you need all the resources at your disposal when you’re looking for people that you can trust with your valuables. That’s because moving delicate furniture (like some of my antiques) is no small task. You definitely want to make sue that you’re dealing with experts!

So, I took the methodical approach and went online in order to find the perfect home movers for the job. When I say “perfect”, I mean movers that not only have the manpower and equipment to get the job done, but the attitude that shows that they care for the customer. This is not something that you can get a sense of just by reading a website. This means that you will need to converse with the movers in order to get a good feel for what their primary focus is. Are they just waitng to get things over with or are they considering the mood and feelings of the customer?

My Family Loves Their New Austin Home!

December 15th, 2011

When it became clear that my family and I needed to make a move to Austin, Texas, it cause quite a stir in my household. Trust me, it’s not easy to say to your family that everything is going to be changing soon. The kids have their friends and their school, which they’re comfortable in. As for me  and my wife, well, it’s pretty much the same deal. We have our friends and neighbors and life is pretty routine and settled. We never really considered packing up and moving to a new city.

Not only that, but try and get an entire family ready for a major move and you’ll know what i mean when I say that the effort is huge! Just getting all of your things together from every corner of your home is a major chore. It’s almost as if the house had taken on a life of its own and had stashed all manner of tiny items in its far-flung corners. It’s as if the items, themselves, had found their individual homes and were reluctant to move. Now, we had to become packing experts in a very short period of time.

Not only that, but I had to choose a family relocation company that would understand what we were going through with this move. I thought that this would be the hardest task of all.  Thank goodness I was wrong about that. I guess I underestimated my skills with looking up services online. The funny thing is that  buy a lot of things on the Internet and I know how to do my research in order to get the most for my money. All I needed to do was to use the same principles when locating a moving company.

I began by looking up companies that specialized in moving boxes and supplies. Once I had the materials that I needed in order to pack some of our most personal and delicate items, it was time to have professional movers do the rest. I went online, once again, and asked for quotes for the upcoming move. I then separated the quotes and started looking up customer reviews of the different companies. By balancing the low pricing with the positive reviews of former customers, I found the perfect company to help us with our move to Austin. Now that we’re here, my family loves this city!

Packing Up For My Move to Austin

November 30th, 2011

It wasn’t until I had already accepted that new manager’s position in Austin that I began to think about the logistics of transporting furniture and having my valuables packed up correctly for the move. But I didn’t panic, since I was an old pro at finding reliable services on the Internet. For me, it just boiled down to a matter of using a good search engine and following up on my findings. So I began by looking up moving companies that had a decent reputation when it came to customer service.

I went out to a few moving review websites where customers can write about their experiences with various professional packing services and relocation companies. I stayed away from companies that had negative reviews regarding items that were broken in transport or companies that couldn’t keep to the schedules that they had agreed on. That’s the kind of stress that I certainly didn’ need during a move! Once I had compiled a list of companies that had received favorable reviews, it was time for me to start asking for some low cost quotes.

I found a number of Austin moving labor services websites that advertised the lowest prices. So I asked as many companies as I could for the lowest quotes they could give me. I made it a point to contact these companies and let them know that I was comparing quotes, so I could use competition to my advantage. In no time at all, I received a number of very low quotes sent directly to my email. Now came the time to make my final selection. So, I personally contacted the last two companies on my list to ask a few questions regarding their techniques for packing delicate items, such as china dishes.

While talking with the last two Austin relocation and packing companies, I got a feel of which one was the most experienced and knowledgeable regarding the proper way to pack up a home for moving. That one company gave me a sense of confidence when it came to entrusting my valuables to their care. And, as it turned out, my instincts were spot on. All of my things were packed well and not one item was broken or damaged in my move to Austin. This made things a lot easier, since I didn’t have to file any claims for reimbursement.
